I had meant to get this blog post up a week ago, but the office manager came down sick and when the little one is sick, everyone knows. Poor thing, she’s doing much better now, which is why I finally get to put up some of my faves from Michelle and Nathan’s awesome engagement session.

The day was perfect, we had this glorious cloud studded sky as our backdrop. Nathan has a restored ’65 Stang, which if anyone knows I am in love with Mustangs. You couldn’t grow up in my house without a love of the classic muscle car. Michelle and Nathan had outfits for every scene we shot, which made the whole shoot go so smooth, we loved every minute.

So, take a look at a few of my faves. You all know I love to share, plus I love to hear what you have to say, so leave me some blog love!

I realized this week, that I have barely posted any full posts from this last year. What a slacker, and what a year it’s been for us, full of ups and downs. So, I’m going back in time to this past winter with Jake and Laura and sharing their fun engagement session. There was snow (I want snow now because it doesn’t feel like Christmas without it) and cold, but Jake and Laura were troopers and we had so much fun together. Plus, Laura has the most amazing skin, I think you will all agree when I say she’s pretty gorgeous. We started outside in the cold and snow, headed to the capital and ended with Barnes and Noble, where they went on their first date (correct me if I’m wrong guys!). They are both big Star Wars fans, so we totally took advantage of that and had some fun in the bookstore.

Enjoy! And please, leave me some blog love, I really enjoy what you have to say, unless it’s spam then it’s outta here!

Joe + Taren’s Baraboo enagement session

Posted on December 6, 2011

We met up with Joe and Taren the first week in October, the day was gorgeous. We headed out to Pewitt’s Nest for some great fall foliage behind the two of them. Rob and I usually like to start easy: “okay, you’re going to hold each others hands and walk away . . . okay now turn around and come back!” Well, we started with a little more touchy feely with Joe and Taren. We had them climb up onto this huge tree and cuddle. I love these shots!

Then, we moved on to walking and holding hands. I love the way that the light filtered down on the two of them. We were blessed with a gorgeous couple and amazing light for the session, what can I say.

After Pewitt’s Nest, we headed to downtown Baraboo, and got some really great shots in one of the back alleys. I love all the little nooks and crannies that can be found when you’re paying attention.

Doesn’t Taren have the most amazing heels? I admit, I could never walk around on them, I would totally sprain an ankle. The shoes were killer and Taren totally rocked them for the session!

Okay, I love the look of this. That patch of vines spreading along the brickwork, then add in a super gorgeous couple. I love it!

Joe and Taren, thank you for an amazing day! We can’t wait for the wedding next year, it’s going to be awesome!

Rob and I went down to Milwaukee to shoot Alecka and Andy’s engagement session. I have known Alecka for quite some time and was super excited to get the email that she is getting married next year to this really awesome guy, enter Andy. Since they are living in Milwaukee and going to school down there, they thought it would be awesome to do their engagement session at some locations that mean a lot to them. We agree. I love going someplace that has meaning for our lovebirds.

The whole session was amazing, from each location, the outfits and the light, it was perfect! I hope you’ll agree.

Alecka and Andy, thanks for letting us come visit and play with your hairless kitties!

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Brad and Stacie on a slightly stormy Friday morning. We were allowed into the apartment building where they had their first date, first kiss and first dinner, isn’t that so romantic?! So while it sprinkled, or perhaps even rained, outside, we stayed dry inside for some fun shots in the hallway. I absolutely loved the lighting fixtures.

We decided to brave the rain and head outside, and were lucky enough when the rain decided to stop. Brad and Stacie were up for anything, they kissed in the street, held hands along the railroad tracks, and even walked over to a little park for some fun shots to round out the session.

I had such a blast, Stacie and Brad. I hope the two of you did as well! Enjoy just a few of my favorites!

I know, I know, another sneak peek, but I’ve been crazy busy lately and this is all I have to offer you right now. I’ve got a Bombshell session in the morning, a newborn session to finish editing, twins were just born and I can’t wait to capture them, plus Stacie and Brad’s awesome engagement session to go through. Oh, what a week. We’ve got our first in a string of weddings starting this Saturday and won’t have a weekend off until July! Yay, I’m so excited!

So, there will be plenty to post, just not enough time in the day to go through everything along with spending time with my family, which I enjoy as much as everyone else. Especially now that the weather is starting to warm up on us. So, I promise to get in at least one more blog post this week, but not until after I have my work edited down a bit.

So, for now, one of my favorite shots from the tail end of Stacie and Brad’s engagement session last Friday, what a perfect day, even with the rain and the shy groom.

I think we can all agree that Wisconsin weather sucks. Last week, it is gorgeous, blue skies, seventy degrees, and what do we have yesterday? We get a horrid rain/sleet/snow mixture, that thank goodness stopped before our engagement session last night. Here I thought that Spring had finally arrived, but after yesterday, I’m disinclined to believe that fact.

Kelli and Rick were eager to brave the wind and the cold, all right that might be putting it a bit stronger, but Rob and I were excited to make the best of the grey situation. I think that the test of any photographer is to not let outside circumstances, such as weather, keep you down. So, even though our lovely couple got a bit cold, we braved the wind and got some amazing shots. We started out in Baraboo at Ochsner’s Park for some quick outdoor shots, then headed up to Chula Vista for some indoor shots, and some of my personal favorite cloud shots and ended up at the River Walk.

Rob and I had a blast, we put into practice some new things we learned last week while at the Power of Passion tour with Sandy Puc and Jerry Ghionis. I think that we rocked this session, and I hope that Kelli and Rick agree. I know that Rick wasn’t too keen on getting pictures taken, what groom isn’t, right? But he was totally a natural in front of the camera and Kelli is just gorgeous. Seriously, take a look and let me know your thoughts.

Kelli and Rick, we cannot wait for your wedding next month! Here’s one thing to check off.

Have I mentioned lately how awesome our clients are?

Well, our clients are awesome. Deb and Erik have been waiting for the perfect winter wonderland scene for their engagement session. For Wisconsin, that shouldn’t be hard, right? You would think, but we had to reschedule a couple times due to warm temps, can you believe all our snow was melting?! Of course it’s freezing now, but the day of Deb and Erik’s engagement session dawned gorgeous, blue skies and the temps were well above zero, although still a bit chilly in the teens/twenties.

We started out at Buffalo Phil’s using the snow sculptures from the Flake Out Festival as an awesome backdrop. My favorite, if you couldn’t tell, is probably the pirate ship. We even braved the ice maze for some cute shots, it may have helped that we were all tall enough to see from one end to the other, but that’s a mere technicality if you ask me. ;)

We drove down to the strip for some quick shots, I found an awesome vine covered alleyway and got some fun reflection shots and then finished down on the Wisconsin River.

Deb and Erik were so much fun, they made snow angels, let us pelt them with snow while they kissed and Erik even gave Deb a piggy back ride. What a fun day. They even broke out their Wisconsin pride at the end, I love the red against the white snow, so perfect.

Take a look, let me know what you think, you know how much I love to read your comments, they make my day!

I must apologize for my lack of blogging this past week. We had a horrible non virus attack the computer, you know the kind, the kind of antivirus that acts like a virus so you buy their product. It’s ridiculous, but Rob has it all sorted out and I’ve got just a little treat from Jake and Laura’s engagement session this weekend. It was really chilly, but we brazened things out, I even remembered to wear thicker socks this week, and we got some awesome images if I do say so myself.

I’ve got tons to do this week, so I’ve got plans to get up a few more posts before the week is out. Stay tuned for the love!

Deb and Erik have been waiting for the perfect snow filled day for their engagement session. Well, the day finally arrived and I am happy to announce that the day was perfect, the sky was a brilliant blue and the snow was still so gorgeously white it was nearly blinding. I’m including just a little taste of what we shot today, my fingers are still a bit frozen so they need to thaw a bit before I can type some more.

Enjoy this little bit of love!
